Terms of use
Photo Organizer free beta, run by The Ready Society. Last updated 28 October 2026. See also the Privacy notice.
In short: Photo Organizer is a free beta that runs in your browser on your own computer. You stay in charge of your photos and of any consent the law requires for face grouping. Keep your own backups. The app is provided as it is.
Using Photo Organizer
- By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
- Photo Organizer is free while it is in beta. Features may change, and the service may stop.
- Use it only for lawful purposes and only on photos and videos you have the right to use.
Face recognition
- Face grouping is optional. The app only looks for faces after you agree in a window that explains what it does. You can turn it off at any time in Settings.
- To group photos by person, the app measures each face it finds (a "face descriptor"). This happens only in your browser, on your computer. No photo, face or name is sent to The Ready Society or to anyone else.
- Face measurements can count as biometric data under the law in some places, for example under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act. Some of these laws require the informed consent of the people shown before their faces are measured.
- Because face grouping runs on your computer and on photos you choose, you are responsible for using it lawfully: use it only on photos where you have the right to, and with any consent the law requires from the people shown (for a child, from a parent or guardian).
- Do not use face grouping to identify, track or watch people without their consent, or on photos of strangers collected from elsewhere.
- To remove face data, use Settings, Delete this browser's copy, and delete the
.photo-organizerfolder in your photo folder if you turned on saving on the drive.
Your photos and data
- Your photos, names, tags and face data stay on your computer (see the Privacy notice). The Ready Society does not receive, store or back them up, so it cannot recover them for you.
- The app never changes or deletes your photo files. It writes files only where you ask: an optional
.photo-organizerfolder, and copies, exports, galleries or backups in folders you choose. - Download a backup of your names and tags now and then (Settings, Download backup), and keep your own backups of your photos.
No warranty, and limits
- Photo Organizer is provided free, "as is" and "as available", without any promise that it will be error free or suit a particular purpose. Face grouping can mix people up; you can correct it in the app.
- To the extent the law allows, The Ready Society is not liable for any loss of data, photos, names or tags, or for any indirect loss, arising from the use of this free beta. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
Other services
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, and the app's free code libraries and face models are downloaded from jsDelivr. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the new version will be on this page with a new date. Photo Organizer is run by The Ready Society; a contact form is being added to this website.
