Privacy notice
Photo Organizer free beta, run by The Ready Society. Last updated 28 October 2026. See also the Terms.
In short: Photo Organizer runs inside your web browser on your own computer. Your photos and videos are never uploaded. Faces are found and grouped on your computer, and the names, tags and face data stay on your computer. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no cookies.
What the app does with your photos
- You choose a folder. The browser asks you whether this page may read it. The app reads the photos and videos in that folder to find their dates, make small previews and find faces.
- Everything is processed by your browser, on your computer. No photo, preview, face, name or tag is sent to us or to anyone else.
- The app never moves, renames, changes or deletes your photo files. It only writes files where you ask it to: an optional
.photo-organizerfolder inside your photo folder (if you turn on "Save names and tags on the drive"), and copies, exports, galleries or backups in folders you choose.
Face recognition
- To group photos by person, the app detects faces and turns each one into a list of numbers that describes it (a "face descriptor"). Faces that are alike are grouped together. You add the names.
- These numbers, the small face pictures and the names are stored only in your browser's storage on this computer and, if you turn it on, in the
.photo-organizerfolder on your own drive. We never receive them. - Face data can count as biometric data under the law in some countries and states. The app only looks for faces after you agree in a window that explains this; until then your photos are sorted by date only. Your answer and its date are kept in this browser only. You can turn faces off at any time in Settings.
- Use the face features only on photos you have the right to use, with any consent the law requires from the people shown (for a child, from a parent or guardian). See the Terms.
Who runs this website
Photo Organizer is run by The Ready Society. A contact form is being added to this page; until then, this site has no way to receive messages, and it holds no information about you.
What is stored, and where
- In your browser (its storage for this website, on this computer): the list of your photos, dates, previews, faces, names, tags, albums and settings.
- On your drive, only if you turn it on: the same names, tags and small previews in a
.photo-organizerfolder inside your photo folder. - Nothing is stored on our side.
Other websites the page uses
- Cloudflare hosts this website. Like any website host, it receives the usual technical details when your browser loads the page (such as your IP address and browser type). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- jsDelivr serves the free code libraries and face models the app needs (face-api and exifr). Your browser downloads them from jsDelivr, which receives the same kind of technical details. No photo, face or name is sent. See jsDelivr's privacy policy.
- The page is set up so that it can only contact itself and jsDelivr.
- If you click a GPS position in the viewer, it opens OpenStreetMap in your browser, which sends that position to openstreetmap.org. Nothing is sent unless you click it.
Deleting your data
- In the app: Settings, Delete this browser's copy. Your photos are not touched.
- If you turned on saving on the drive, also delete the
.photo-organizerfolder inside your photo folder. - Clearing this website's data in your browser settings also deletes everything the app stored in the browser.
A free beta
Photo Organizer is free while it is in beta. It may have mistakes; face grouping in particular can mix people up, and you can fix that in the app. Keep your own backups of your photos, and download a backup of your names now and then (Settings, Download backup). The app is provided as it is, without any promise that it will suit a particular purpose.
Changes
If this notice changes, the new version will be on this page with a new date.
